Malvern New Contemporary Kitchen

The joinery scope at this new extension included an incredible section of built-ins that extends the entire length of the new area. Containing not only the kitchen, but also the laundry, a beautiful bookshelf with suspended shelves facing into the living area but also a wall of stunning battening with a secret hidden door to the bathroom behind! Upstairs the battening is used again on the feature bedhead and another joinery door is sleekly incorporated into the ample hinged robe.

In the kitchen the island bench really steals the show in this space thanks to its curved beginning and stunning stone top that flows up the stairs of the split-level room to include hidden laundry provisions on one side and a stunning built-in bookcase to the other. The bookshelf with its large floating shelves are supported by custom steel rods through each of the five shelves.

The stone clad shelf under the rangehood cabinet wrapped in real brass sheet, and the curve to the island cabinet and stone really highlight the attention to detail and care taken not only in the design phase but also in the fabrication and installation of the joinery.

Many functional elements were able to be incorporated including built-in bins, pop-up power-points in the hotplate benchtop, appliances like the dishwasher and fridge are integrated and the washer and dryer are hidden behind pocket doors when not in use.
