Aldinga Beach Chef’s Modern Kitchen

For the owners of this beautiful home in Aldinga Beach, food is an enormous part of life. Not only do they love to entertain family and friends, but they also manage a catering company for both private and corporate events professionally along with small group cooking classes at their home. Their approach is extremely personalised, and they pride themselves on high quality in everything that they are accomplishing.

With this in the front of mind in the design process, we worked with them to create a space that celebrates this passion and fully equips them with an outlet to share this love with others. Innovative Kitchens and McNally Architects in Sydney brought the owners’ vision to life.

The large kitchen and pantry space incorporate a significant uninterrupted island worktop to gather around for preparation and plating. The large gas hotplate provides the ability to have as many items on the go as they need. And the sink space is incredibly functional, with double bowls, a draining area and an adjacent built-in bin and dishwasher.

One challenge for our team was to create a bench seat that curved into and around the breakfast nook. Taking precise measurement and relying on skilled craftsmanship, we were able to make a beautifully sculptural seat base for the custom upholstered seat top to rest on.

Lots of warmth was added to the space through the natural wormy chestnut timber benchtops and shelving. Complimenting the warm tones of the terrazzo benchtops and clay tiles. The anti-fingerprint venette finish on the panels and doors was also a fantastic recommendation by our selection team to reduce marks on the beautiful matte finish in such a busy environment.
